Jazz on the Plazz: Jazz Mafia (jazz + hip-hop/funk/classical/world-music fusion)

Details
Let's meet at Los Gatos Town Plaza and listen to the live music! Depending on the vibe, we can just hang out, walk around, or dance for a bit. After the concert, we'll walk around and grab food/snacks from a nearby venue.
From the https://jazzontheplazz.com/2025-concerts-2/ page:
Jazz Mafia is a dynamic San Francisco musicians, composers, and producers collective. It was founded 2000 by trombonist, bassist, and arranger Adam Theis. Renowned for blending jazz with genres like hip-hop, funk, classical, and world music, the group has become a cornerstone of the Bay Area’s innovative music scene. Jazz Mafia has collaborated with artists such as Roy Ayers, Lyrics Born, Zion-I, and Ledisi, and has performed at major festivals including SFJAZZ, Outside Lands, and the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest. Their acclaimed project, Brass, Bows & Beats: A Hip-Hop Symphony, exemplifies their genre-defying approach by merging orchestral elements with contemporary rhythms. With over 40 albums released, Jazz Mafia continues to push musical boundaries and foster community through their eclectic performances and recordings.
NOTE that finding the group in large open events like this is tricky, so if you show up late/can't find us post a comment including where you are and what you're wearing/how we can find you, and we'll come and get you. You can also hang out and and enjoy the music by yourself, since there's lots of people and (usually) food and drinks - feel free to walk around and mingle with others. You're also free to bring however many people you want - this is an outdoor event with no hard capacity, but Meetup limits the guest options.
From the https://www.jazzmafia.com/about/ page:
In the year 2000, trombonist, bassist, composer, arranger, and producer Adam Theis co-founded Jazz Mafia – an eclectic artist collective of forward-thinking and accomplished players in Electro, Hip-Hop, World, Classical, and Jazz. Twenty years in the making, Jazz Mafia is a prolific staple of the quintessential San Francisco sound, uniting creative and accomplished Bay Area instrumentalists, vocalists, MCs, composers, and arrangers.
The collective quickly garnered a reputation for its collaborative and risk-taking spirit, and over the years has worked with Roy Ayers, Lyrics Born, Zion-I, Rebelution, Latyrx, Galactic, Ledesi, Blackalicious, and Jackie Greene, to name a few. Recently, the collective performed sold out residencies at the SFJAZZ Center and served as the house band in The Soiled Dove – its large-scale cirque-inspired collaboration with The Vau de Vire Society. Jazz Mafia has also recently collaborated with the Oakland Symphony at Paramount Theatre of the Arts, as well as with GRAMMY-winning composer Mason Bates and his Mercury Soul project at the Kennedy Center in DC. Jazz Mafia also curates musical experiences for Stanford University, Oakland Art & Soul Festival, and many other presenters.
