Have you ever watched sumo wrestling and thought, "I could do that"?

I have, and I'm teaming up with my favorite local badass community gym Hyperstrength and my favorite Bay Area sumo club Black Cat Sumo to bring you a Friday fight night ft. you and all the new friends you'll make through toppling each other in the dohyō (sumo wrestling ring)!

Come grab a bite, learn sumo, and grapple with me!

We’ll also have a cool local MMA photographer on hand who will be raffling off 2 complimentary mini photo sessions! They’ll be taking some professional pictures throughout the night for free for us (only if you want to of course)!

🤼 WHO CAN TRY SUMO?
All are welcome—sumo wrestling is for every body! All genders, all sizes.

😵‍💫 HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TO DO?
Our good friends at Black Cat Sumo are pros and will show us the ropes!

🥋 DO I HAVE TO WEAR A MAWASHI (SUMO BELT) AND/OR BE NAKED?
Please wear clothes (gym clothes are great)!! Black Cat Sumo will have 2 mawashis you are welcome to try (over your clothes) if you would like, but it's not required.

💥 I'M SCARED!
The 1st step is showing up to try something new! You will be paired up with someone of a similar size if you decide to grapple, but you can also watch until you feel more comfortable.

👀 SO IS IT FREE?
Thanks to the generosity of Austin from Hyperstrength and Evan from Black Cat Sumo, we have been able to keep this event free! If you would like to support, you can donate to Black Cat Sumo (those mawashis are $$$) and get some cool tees or sign up for a membership/training session at Hyperstrength 💪🏽

🚘 WHAT ABOUT PARKING?
Hyperstrength is located next to some apartments with a huge parking lot, so no worries there!

Not a problem! We’ll have taco plates and biscoff banana pudding for sale!
