Buck full moon/sunset hike/photowalk
Details
July's buck moon is at 7:35 am Wednesday (beyond the horizon so you can't actually see it), so let's meet Tuesday evening and bask in the moonlight and setting sun. Sunset is at 8:19 pm and moonrise is at 8:08 pm, so we'll be finishing our walk around the time the sun sets and the moon rises. The bay has been getting some really nice sunsets the last few weeks, so bring your camera if you're a photographer.
The Guadalupe River Trail runs all the way from the San Jose Airport to Alviso and is more than 10 miles long, but we'll do just part of it. The part we'll be doing will pass by Levi's Stadium, so if you haven't seen the stadium before, now's your chance.
The last hike was very pleasant and mild, but it still got a little chilly after sunset, so bring a sweater/extra layer. Mosquitoes seem to be coming out recently, so use your mosquito repellent (or wear full sleeves and pants) if you're a popular bug snack. This is a completely flat, paved trail, so this will be nice and easy for everyone. Since this is an out-and-back trail, the distance will be however far you get in the first half of our walk x2.
Here's the entire trail (we're doing the part going north from Riverview Park): https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/guadalupe-river-park-trail
Everyone is invited to my events, so don't worry about whether or not you can come. I won't check my phone much after the event starts since I'll be talking to people, so if you can't find us/arrive late, check the comments (scroll down past the bottom of this description for comments, and don't send dms since I won't see those).
GETTING THERE
VTA has 4 routes that stop pretty much right in front of our meeting spot: 20 (get off at Orchard Station), ACE Brown (get off at River Oaks & 1st), Green Line (get off at River Oaks Station, doesn't show up in table but shows up in dropdown for origin and destination), and Blue Line (get off at River Oaks Station, also doesn't show up in table but shows up in dropdown for origin and destination).
BART's Orange and Green lines also connect directly with VTA's 20 (see above) at the Milpitas station, so you can also transfer from BART to VTA and get to our spot.
There's plenty of street parking around the area and a parking garage, so you can park where you want, but pay attention to where you park since there's lots of free street parking and some of it is residential and some is timed so pick carefully. We'll meet by the stairs at the end of the River Oaks Pl roundabout (if you get there early, I'll be at the basketball court or playground area).
FOOD
If you arrive early or want to eat before you leave, you have a bunch of options within a 2 minute walk: Pokeworks, Inchin's Bamboo Garden, Starbucks, B3Boyz, A2B Indian, Biryani Bazaar, and Blast & Brew. One of our members also happened to recommend A2B Indian a couple weeks ago, so that should be a solid option.
