Benicia has ghost walks, but they’re a seasonal offering by the Benicia Physic metaphysical shop. Bay Area Ghost Hunters has set up a special slot for our group.

For those looking for a little background, when flooding in San Jose was too big of an obstacle to keep its status as the first state capitol of California, Vallejo stepped up to the plate, then Benicia. The conditions of Benicia civic center allowed them to erect the capitol building the legislature needed. It lasted a little over a year, from February 3, 1853, to February 24, 1854, before the state legislators found complaints about the location. To the dismay of the local residents, they then moved onto Sacramento. Considering how much drama that can arise from politics, California became a big controversy when it entered the union in 1850 as a free state. It shouldn’t be surprising one figure appears in photo while Benicia was celebrating its founding.

It is also home to the Union Hotel, where Ghost Adventures filmed a 2019 episode. They determined the ghosts were evil because they were generating a lot of anger amongst their team, whereas other paranormal researchers have speculated that the ghosts simply resent Zack Bagans. During my past overnight stay at the Union, I never sensed anything menacing. Also in 2019, BAGH met up there with the late Irish Psychic Medium Sandra O’Hara, who gave an amazing gallery reading. While she managed to pass on messages to most of those attending, she had to turn away some that were unconnected to anyone present for the event.

Ghost walks usually focus on details that are rarely mentioned in those focused on other subjects. This is where people learn about the locale’s violent and macabre past and the ghosts that grew out of the traumas. This one is particularly special because it is led by a psychic medium. It is designed for people who are 18 years of age and over.

Fee for this special tour is $42/$52 per person. The $52 fee comes with an EMF reader. In order to avoid additional service charges and save me some paperwork, please go directly to their website to book a spot:

We will be going on the 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 25, ghost walk, but we need to arrive early. Since Meetup won't accept the precise address in the meet-up details, it is 920 First Street #104. Tours last about 90 minutes. For priority, please ensure to mention you’re with BAGH.

If anyone is familiar with the parking situation in this area, please share some details in the comments. All I remember is that it has street parking.

BAGH hosts will be wearing flashing ghost necklaces and possibly a BAGH t-shirt. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
