About us

Welcome to Bay Area Girls Who Game! Whether you’re into video games, board games, or both, you’ve found your community. We’re all about creating a warm, welcoming space for women across the San Francisco Bay Area to connect, share their love for gaming, and build lasting friendships. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just starting out, there’s a place for you here.

Our events include in-person dinners, brunches, happy hours, and more at some of the best spots around the Bay Area. We also host online gaming sessions and a monthly meet and greet.

Attendance Policy

To ensure everyone can enjoy our events, please follow these guidelines:
RSVP only if you plan to attend, especially for events with guest limits.
Cancel at least 48 hours before the event if needed.
Late cancellations (less than 48 hours prior) may result in a no-show on your profile.
Excessive cancellations may limit your access to future events.
Three or more no-shows could lead to removal from the group.

We Host Mixer Events!
While our group is for the ladies, we also enjoy sharing good times with loved ones! Events marked as “coed" are open to your favorite guest—whether it’s your husband, boyfriend, or best guy friend. Just be sure to add them as a +1 when you RSVP.

Join Our Discord!
Stay connected beyond our meetups by joining our Discord! It’s a great way to chat, share photos, find gaming groups, and stay in touch with the community. Once your membership is approved, message one of our hosts for an invite!

If you have been inactive for an extended period of time, Meetup will no longer send you notifications when we host events. So be sure to check our page regularly to stay in touch! We periodically remove anyone who has been inactive, but you can rejoin at any time when you are ready to be part of our community.

In Honor of Alison: Intro to Archery

Have you always been curious by archery and want to learn how to play? Well now's your chance! Alison's cousin (Chuck), who is an archery instructor at a local organization, has graciously offered to teach us outdoor archery for free to our group members!

We will meet up at Black Mountain Bowmen Archery Club, located near the 85/101 freeway intersection. There is a gravel parking lot present on site. We’ll plan to start at 10 am, and the lesson will run for 2-3 hours. Hopefully there’s no rain that day, but we’ll keep an eye on weather as date approaches.

Chuck only has enough equipment to teach 10 of us. To respect Chuck's time & energy to host us for free, available spots will first go to members who have a positive attendance record with the group. Remaining available spots will then be given on a first come, first serve basis.

Celebration of Alison's Life

Join us for a gathering to remember and celebrate our dear friend, Alison Kronenberg. This will be a time to come together, share food, swap stories, and remember the joy, laughter, and impact of someone who touched so many lives. Feel free to bring a dish to share but please bring your own beverages (utensils, plates, cups, microwaves available).

For those of you who aren't aware, we recently lost Alison. She was an extremely active member and welcoming event organizer for Girls Who Game. She hosted game nights, dim sum, boba tastings, and other fun events.

The current agenda is as follows:
1145-1: Meet and greet with Alison's friends and eat
1-130: Remembering Alison
130-2: More hanging out and eating

We completely understand if you cannot come for the entire event so any time will be appreciated. We plan to take and send lots of pictures to her direct family who will not be able to attend.

Let's enjoy delicious dim sum at Koi Palace in Milpitas. This event is in honor of our friend and host Alison who sadly passed away last month.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, please note the following requirements:
- You have met Lisa, Karen or Aimee in person
- You have a positive attendance record with Girls Who Game
- You are COVID vaccinated
We will move attendees from the waitlist once we have verified these criteria, with a maximum capacity of 12 attendees.

🔑 Important Notes:
- Koi Palace is very busy and won’t seat us until most of our party has arrived, so please plan ahead and arrive on time to avoid delays.
- The restaurant accepts only one credit card per table, so if someone is comfortable paying the full bill on their card (perhaps to get points or cashback rewards), the rest of us can Venmo them our share. Otherwise, please bring small cash bills for an easy split.
At the end of the meal, we split the bill equally (historically around $30-40 per person), so come hungry to get your money’s worth! 🙂

🍵In Honor of Alison🥛 Boba-Trotting

Can't get enough boba tea in your life? This is inside Westgate Mall so we will be hanging indoors in the food court where we can find some seating. I'll bring a couple simple games for us to get to know each other!

While this event is in honor of Alison, who used to host boba events, knowing her is not a requirement to attend.
However, I reserve the right to cancel this event if there are less than 3 RSVPs.
