👋 Hi, everyone. Welcome to join the Friday Webinar! OceanBase is a distributed SQL database built from the ground up since 2010 by Ant Group. In this talk, we will briefly introduce the OceanBase SQL engine,e including a cost-based optimizer, vectorized query engine, and distributed query execution. We will also discuss some design challenges and choices we have made to support the hybrid OLTP&OLAP workload.

Speaker: Guoping Wang

Dr. Guoping Wang is a technical leader of the OceanBase SQL team. He received his B.S.c in Computer Science from the Harbin Institute of Technology in 2008 and P.h.D degree in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore in 2014. His P.h.D research interests mainly include (multi-)query processing and optimization.

Dr. Guoping Wang is now leading the OceanBase SQL group to build an advanced SQL engine to efficiently support both OLTP and OLAP workloads. Before joining OceanBase, he was a research engineer at Huawei. He worked on building an efficient and efficient query optimizer for big data projects.
