Friday Webinar - 💡Design a Storage Engine for Distributed DB From the Beginning

Details

  • 👋 Hi, everyone; welcome to join the Friday Webinar! OceanBase is a distributed relational database built from the ground up since 2010 by Ant Group. Different from many other systems, we designed the OceanBase Storage Engine originally instead of using some open-source components such as MySQL, PgSQL, or RocksDB.
  • This talk will briefly introduce the OceanBase Storage Engine, including storage structure, compaction, DDL, backup, and recovery details. We will also discuss the reasons and choices why we designed a new storage engine and what benefits and challenges it brings to us.

Speaker: Yuzhong Zhao

  • Dr. Yuzhong Zhao is a technical leader of the OceanBase Storage team. He received his B.S.c in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2005 and P.h.D degree in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2010.
  • Dr. Yuzhong Zhao is now leading the OceanBase Storage group to build an advanced Storage Engine with high performance and low cost.
