Castle Rock State Park Mapping Party and Hike

Moderate hike at moderate pace with stops at Castle Rock, Castle Rock Falls, Russell Point, Trail Camp and Goat Rock. 6.5 miles, 1000 ft. elevation gain. We stop for lunch at Trail Camp. Expect lots of sunshine and awesome vistas on the Saratoga Gap trail. Several sections of trail require scrambling over rocks. Saratoga Gap trail also has a segment with a narrow pathway along a steep drop off. Bring lunch, snacks, liquids, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses. Hiking boots recommended.

Meet at the parking lot of Castle Rock State Park next to trailhead. There is a $10 fee to park payable at Ranger Kiosk or park out on Skyline Blvd in designated parking areas. Rain Cancels.

Carpool: Los Gatos Municipal Parking Lot (Highway 9 between University Ave & Santa Cruz Ave, behind Chase bank) at 8:15 AM.

Mapping Party: Big Basic Cafe in Saratoga at about 2:30 PM. There will be a OSM editing demonstration. You are welcome to bring your own laptop and GPS dagta.
