Q&A with Nina of Nina Lee Patterns + Sewing Demo!
Details
Join us for an in-person Q&A with Nina of Nina Lee Patterns who founded her indie pattern company in 2017 in the UK. She now lives in the Golden State and recently released her first California-inspired pattern, the Carmel Jumpsuit, which features four bodice variations, side legs, and deep pockets and goes up to bust 54", hip 57". You can find her on IG at @ninaleelondon and @ninaleeloves.
We'll hear about how she launched her pattern company and what inspires her designs. Nina will also be showing us some handy pattern hacks: how to change or move closures on a pattern — from zippers and button plackets to keyhole openings and shirred sections! Nina has presented sewing demos on TV in the UK and spoken at The Fold Line events.
All attendees get 10 percent off merchandise in Lacis's retail store. This Berkeley institution carries a range of needlework, corset-making, and millinery supplies as well as vintage patterns, books, lace, ribbons, fabric, and more.
This is also great time to meet other sewists. Feel free to wear or bring something you made. We'll have time in the beginning to share one garment you made.
This meetup is limited to 30 people. There is a nonrefundable fee of $5 to help pay for renting the space at Lacis. Please update your RSVP if you can no longer attend. If you'd like to pay via Venmo, message Chuleenan, the organizer via Meetup page. Thank you.
