Q&A with Ella of Handmade Millennial + Show & Tell!
Details
Join us for an in-person Q&A with Ella of Handmade Millennial (on IG at @handmademillennial) and Chuleenan, organizer of the Bay Area Sewists Meetup group and sewing blogger (C Sews, IG: @csews)! Ella's wide-leg jumpsuit (ME2008) is her first design released as part of the Know Me sewing pattern line curated by Mimi G and featuring makers of color in the sewing community. The fall collection was just announced by Something Delightful, the company that now owns Vogue, Butterick, and McCall's patterns.
We'll hear how she got started sewing as well as more about the Know Me pattern line, how the concept is different than other Big Four patterns as well as some behind-the-scene details of her first Know Me pattern. Ella will also be showing us some of the garments she's made and talking about their construction details.
This is also a great time to let her know what you'd like to see in Big Four pattern lines! If you have any questions for Ella, please put them in the comments or message Chuleenan via the Meetup page or @bayareasewists on IG.
All attendees get 10 percent off merchandise in Lacis's retail store. This Berkeley institution carries a range of needlework, corset-making, and millinery supplies as well as vintage patterns, books, lace, ribbons, fabric, and more.
This is also great time to meet other sewists. Feel free to wear or bring something you made. We'll have time in the beginning to share one garment you made.
This meetup is limited to 30 people. There is a nonrefundable fee of $5 to help pay for renting the space at Lacis. Please update your RSVP if you can no longer attend. If you'd like to pay via Venmo, message Chuleenan, the organizer via Meetup page. Thank you.
IF THIS MEETUP IS FULL - please say in the comments on this page that you would like to be put on the waitlist for this event. If I spot opens up, then I will contact you and manually add you to the Yes list.
