Solarpunk optimism vs. dystopianism, doomerism in science fiction

Details
The characteristic that distinguishes Solarpunk is optimism, both environmental and social. That’s why The Fifth Sacred Thing, Parable of the Talents, and Nausicaa are considered Solarpunk even though they were written before the movement began. Dystopian sci-fi, cyberpunk, doomerism, rightwing survivalism, and liberal gloom are pushed by the entertainment industry precisely because they express the viewpoint of a global economic and political system that’s dying.
More popular dystopian movies/books: Blade Runner, Road Warrior, The Matrix, etc.
More popular positive movies/books: Avatar, Andor, Star Trek, etc.
Change begins with Solarpunk Stories (7min):
