This route is ideal for longer brick runs. 37 miles but only 500 feet, so we should be able to keep up a decent speed despite it being mostly city streets. I don't want to provide an average given lights, potholes, cars but somewhere in the 15-20mph range in the Oakland flats. The Alameda loop is gorgeous, but the trail often requires going <15mph given walkers/runners.
Start/end at Market Hall Rockridge, across the street from BART, 8:15am. I'll be going down Broadway turning left on 3rd, if others want to join there assume 10ish minutes given traffic lights slowing us down.
- You MUST be comfortable riding near cars going 40mph, route is along the Oakland Embarcadero (the road next to 880). There is a bike lane but it's only paint separating cars from you.
- Keep route on your device in case we get separated. Happy to exchange cell phones in case of issue.
As with every ride, Oakland Tri Club folks may message me on not-meetup. The RSVP count here may not be accurate. If you're planning on riding you must let me know somehow otherwise I'll just roll.
