WiMLDS Mentorship Program Sign-Up

WiMLDS Bay Area is launching a mentorship program. For this inaugural iteration of the program, we are offering two cohorts (early career and mid-career) of mentees. Due to limited availability, the program membership will be first-come, first-serve. Our goal is to match 10 mentors with 10 mentees for a three-month partnership for each of the two cohorts.

Cohort A: Early Career

As a mentee in this cohort, you are starting your journey in the field of machine learning (ML) or data science(DS). You might be at the beginning of your career or looking to make a change from another career to ML/DS and looking for mentorship to break into the field (example: interview prep, etc.).

As a mentor in this cohort, you are already working in the field of machine learning (ML) or data science (DS) and looking to mentor those who are starting out in this field (example: interview prep, etc.).

Cohort B: Mid-career

As a mentee in this cohort, you are already working in the field of machine learning (ML) or data science (DS). You are looking for mentorship on advancing your career on the technical or management track (example: becoming a senior/staff level individual contributor, getting into management, etc.).

As a mentor in this cohort, you have substantial experience in the field of machine learning (ML) or data science (DS). You are looking to mentor those in the field who are looking to advance their career on the technical or management track (example: becoming a senior/staff level individual contributor, getting into management, etc.).

Program Details

All events in this program will be virtual.

Duration: 3 months
Time commitment: ~2hr/month

Program Kick-off + Mentor-mentee mixer: Thursday, March 4

Other mixers: The program will include monthly mentor and mentee check-ins (time for mentors to hang-out with other mentors and mentees to meet other mentees) as well as a Graduation mixer at the end of the program.
