Starting again! - Russian Ridge hike and meditation for the solstice

Details

Join us for the first meeting of this group since the pandemic!

Meet at the trailhead at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, on the west side of Skyline Drive, at 9:30am. Russian Ridge is south of the 84 intersection, and south of Windy Hill.
Gail will lead this hike in celebration of the summer solstice.
We will be out for about 2 hours- 2 miles of actual hiking with several standing and walking nature based meditation practices interspersed. At the beginning and end of the hiking, there will be time to make friends and socialize. Some periods in the middle of the experience will be in silence to enhance our connection to the natural world.
There are sweeping vistas across the mountainside toward the ocean, grasslands, and some patches of forest. At this time of day and season, this is usually a mostly sunny, pretty warm hike- perfect for summer solstice, with a few shady breaks. If you are familiar, we will hike along the Ridge Trail, down and across Hawk Hill, and return via Charquin Trail.

Bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses, layers, sneakers or hiking boots, common sense, and a friendly attitude.
Some may want to bring a snack. Others may wish to meet friends for lunch at Alice's Restaurant or in Woodside, or linger at the Thomas Fogarty winery afterward, all of which are quite close to this hike.
