Sultry Salsa #101, From the Beginning

Details
Learn basic Salsa in just one day in this intensive 3 hour Mini Bootcamp!
Taught by Chicago International, and Detroit World, Salsa Congress instructor El Barón Jed Walker.
We start from the very beginning with the basic and the progressive basic steps.
Next, we learn to hear the beats of music in the measure.
Then, we learn how to connect with, and communicate to, our partner through the movements of our body utilizing our dance frame.
We apply this to dance Salsa with "On1" timing or "LA style" Salsa.
We will teach you a right turn, a behind the back hand change with the styling of the hairbrush.
In addition, you will learn the "connector move", the cross body lead.
We will show you how to put these all together so that you can move smoothly from one combination to another to make your dancing flow and get you out on the dance floor looking good!
Then we will create a fun dance routine for you to use to practice our new moves and to take to the clubs to dance.
NO PARTNER IS NECESSARY. We rotate partners in class. This will help you develop your skills more quickly and allow everybody the opportunity to practice the steps being taught and also to meet new people with whom you might practice at another time. Nevertheless, you may stay with one partner if you choose.

FAQ AND FYI
SHOES: We recommend soles that allow you to slide safely across the dance floor, such as leather, smooth plastic, or suede. A closed back, or a strap across the heel, will help keep your foot in place as you turn. Rubber-soled shoes, athletic shoes and flip flops are not recommended.
CLOTHING: Although we don't have a strict dress code, the norm for our classes is nicer-casual. Layers are suggested as you will heat up as the class progresses. Clothing should breathe. Cotton or other natural fibers is preferred. Clothing that restricts your movements is not recommended.
We will take a 10 minute break during the Mini Boot Camp. We suggest you bring a drink and a snack such as fruit, cheese or nuts for the break.
THIS CLASS IS FOR PEOPLE NEW TO SALSA AND FOR PEOPLE THAT KNOW SOME SALSA BUT WISH TO IMPROVE THEIR BASIC TECHNIQUE, PARTNER CONNECTION AND TIMING OR TO BEGIN LEARNING VARIOUS TURN COMBINATIONS.
