Hello & First Meetup Meeting
Details
## Baytown–Mont Belvieu Permaculture Meetup (First-Ever Gathering)
Join us for the very first permaculture meetup in the Baytown / Mont Belvieu area. If you’re into sustainable living, regenerative gardening, homesteading, and learning how all the pieces fit together (food, water, power, shelter, and income), you’re in the right room.
This first meetup is designed to be casual, welcoming, and conversation-friendly. Beginners are absolutely welcome, and so are long-time growers, builders, tinkerers, and seasoned permaculture folks. If you’re curious, you belong here.
### Date & Time
Wednesday, February 19th at 7:30 PM
### Location
Sam and Carmena Goss Memorial Branch Library
1 John Hall Dr, Mont Belvieu, TX 77523
### How to Find the Meeting Room
We’ll meet in the class/meeting room near the entryway:
- Enter through the front doors
- Turn left
- The meeting room is the first door on your left
### What to Bring
- Food and drinks (optional — feel free to snack and share)
- Notebook and pen (or your favorite note-taking setup)
- Any questions, ideas, or projects you want to talk through
### What to Expect (Simple Agenda)
This first meeting will be an open forum discussion with a loose structure:
- Quick introductions (who you are, what you’re working on, what you want to learn)
- Group conversation around shared interests like:
- permaculture design + systems thinking
- regenerative gardening and soil building
- composting, mulching, and low-input food production
- rainwater capture, filtration, and water storage
- renewable power tools and off-grid tech basics
- sustainable construction methods
- homestead-based income and practical self-sufficiency
- We’ll also gather input on what the group wants most, so future meetups can become more topic-focused (workshops, guest speakers, demos, themed discussions, etc.)
### A Little About the Organizer
I’ve been studying permaculture and whole-systems sustainability for about 10 years, and actively implementing these practices for the last 6 years (with a lifetime background in gardening and raising animals). I’m looking forward to meeting local people who enjoy talking about the same “how do we build a resilient, self-reliant life?” topics without their family slowly backing out of the room. ;)
Come as you are. Bring your curiosity. Let’s build a local community that grows food, skills, and resilience together.
