Dr. Adam Sharp, Sermo, Par8o

Adam (@sharpdoc (http://www.twitter.com/sharpdoc)) will be speaking on the role of physician-physician social networking, and how his experiences with Sermo have led him to co-found Par8o, a new platform for physician referrals. Dr. Sharp has been an ER doctor for 9 years at St Vincent Emergency Physicians, in the meantime co-founding both Sermo and Par8o in the role of Chief Medical Officer. He can offer a unique perspective on one of the major problems with care delivery and how simplifying the communication between physicians can help solve this issue.

Jeremy Gilbert, Patients Like Me

Patients Like Me has become the leading social community for patients to share stories and experiences living with [mostly] chronic conditions. Jeremy is the recently appointed head commercial projects at Patients Like Me. As such, he can speak to where PLM has been and where they are going. The power of the patient voice is immense, and wrapping that in a community can help patients better understand what it is they can expect and help them be more confident self-advocators. We're looking forward to hearing what the future holds for this local golden child.

Dr. Bradley Crotty, HMS, BIDMC
Dr. Arash Mostaghimi, HMS, BIDMC

Brad and Arash will be speaking on how the use of social media can extend the doctor-patient relationship outside of the care setting to improve outcomes, and the ethical/legal pitfalls this could entail. Together, they have published on the use of social media in the care setting in Annals of Internal Medicine (link (http://www.annals.org/content/154/8/560.abstract)). A dynamic duo, they are interested in tech enabled healthcare redesign, medical informatics, and patient engagement. Looking forward to a dynamic presentation!
