What we're about

Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by inspiring positive change and empowering them to achieve what they never dreamed possible. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. Help start a Little on their path to big things!

Volunteers are 21+ and subject to background checks, reference checks, interviewing and training. Each volunteer (Big) is matched with a child (Little) between the ages of 7 and 14 based on gender identity, location and interests. There are two opportunities to volunteer as a Big, community-based and site-based (see below).

What is Big Brothers Big Sisters?

Community-Based Mentoring:

Bigs and Littles spend quality time sharing local culture, exploring new educational opportunities, developing new skills and hobbies. Outings are on your schedule, 2-4 times a month. Big Brothers Big Sisters offers full support of this match through the training and an assigned Match Support Specialist who will check in with you on a monthly basis.

Site-Based Mentoring:

Facilitated programs occur in a group setting on a specific day and time. Each program includes time for relationship building, a structured activity and free time. Mentors and mentees do not have in-person contact outside of the program. Every program is unique and hosted at a site near you.

BBBS offers full support of this match through training and an assigned Match Support Specialist who will check in with you on a monthly basis
