Hi everyone -- apologies again for the misfire last month, but we're excited to announce we've rescheduled September's talk for October!

We've discussed ROS2 and the "DDS" middleware many times in our past talks. We're excited to be joined by representatives of RTI (the leading company behind the DDS spec) to hear a bit more about DDS.

Talk Description:

DDS provides the underlying connectivity framework for ROS2. DDS provides fast, reliable, and secure data connectivity within and between systems. It enables open architecture and minimizes risks of integration, upgrades, and changing mission requirements. DDS is an open standard used in thousands of real-world designs across aerospace and defense, autonomous vehicles, surgical robots, and hundreds of autonomous systems. Join us as we:
• Compare and contrast: ROS; ROS2; DDS
• Discuss why/how migration options from ROS to ROS2 + DDS
• Learn about safety cert-ability, reliability, security, and advanced features (QoS) of DDS
