Woodland Appreciation
Details
In Southwark, and all over the world, trees and wild lands are dying to make room for growing human needs. SNAV is organising a small event to share our collective grief for this loss, and especially the imminent loss of a small urban woodland, between Lomond Grove and Brisbane Street, which will soon be destroyed in order to make room for a social housing development. 20-30 mature trees, woodland understory and many animal homes are to be lost.
Come join our march and brief ceremony of recognition for this loss, Sunday, 16th January 2022. Meet in person at 3pm under the big chestnut tree near the playground and WW1 memorial at Camberwell Green, and walk with us to the site, or join us on instagram live at 3:30 at instagram.com/southwarknature, when we will say a few farewell words to the woodland and recognise its contributions to wildlife habitat, flood risk reduction, carbon storage, and mental health.
