On Friday, January 13th we’re going to go over the fundamentals. We’ll taste a selection of wines to learn how to distinguish and describe different elements of wines. We’ll learn about tannins, acidity, complexity, length, detecting different types of aromas and what they can tell us about each wine. We’ll also learn what the hell people mean when they say a wine is “well structured.”

This will be helpful in equipping you with the skills and vocabulary to describe the wines you’re drinking and, more importantly, the wines you want to drink, whether you’re speaking to someone in a wine shop or a sommelier in a restaurant. We’ll be meeting at 20:00. The fee for this tasting is 20 Euros.

COVID Protocol: We continue to require proof of an at home negative test on the day of the tasting to attend. I realize tests can be annoying, but it’s a simple way to prevent transmission and no one has ever caught COVID at one of our tastings. These little precautions help make that possible. Privately, some members have also said this is the only reason they feel comfortable attending and I’m glad we can do our part to continue to include them.
