Big questions: How big is the universe?

Details

The questions we will address: Is our infinite? Does it have borders? Does it loop on itself?

This event will be held in English.

No strong science or math background required.

We will try to understand the size and the shape of our universe. We will talk about different concepts, like General Relativity, Lorentz transformations, Cosmic Microwave Backgrounds, but mostly base our conversation on the ΛCDM model and the conclusions we can draw from the early universe imprint.

```About The Big Questions meetup ~~~
The goal of this meetup is to explore the big questions about life and the universe. We address diverse topics, covering science, history and philosophy, with an open mind but with the rigour of science.
We share our knowledge without condescendence.
We do not assume any prior knowledge.
The conversion will be held in English, but english beginners are welcome.
Each meetup will address one single topic decided ahead of time.
Example of Big Questions:
  • How big is the universe? Is it infinite?
  • Why did human civilisation only start 12000 years ago?
  • Was life necessary for the universe to exist? What's the anthropic principle?
  • Do we have free will? What is determinism?
    ```
