Health Tech – Healthcare Will See You Now

Healthcare is a $3 Trillion market that needs to be reduced by one third according to the National Academy of Sciences. Inefficiencies and waste are estimated to account for one third of our expenditures. We pay the most in healthcare of any industrialized countries.

iPhones and smartphones were introduced in 2007 and now have a 90% penetration rate. There is a mobile mind shift happening that is creating a fundamental shift in healthcare management and the way healthcare services are delivered. telehealth opportunities have the capability to deliver healthcare more efficiently and cost effectively and they are rapidly gaining acceptance with patients as the way to meet with health professionals.

Our panel of telehealth, innovation, and healthcare experts will discuss this new model of healthcare delivery, how it is improving healthcare, outcomes, costs, and how Colorado can take a leadership role in implementation.

Moderator and Panelists:

Expert Moderator: Jeffery Nathanson, is the CEO of Prime Health, He is also the President of 10.10.10 a new innovation program focused on solving Wicked Problems with serial entrepreneurs. Jeffrey is a serial entrepreneur himself founding several businesses in the Healthcare and CleanTech industries. Previously, Jeffrey was Executive Director Business Development at National Jewish Health where he was responsible for developing revenue producing business units. Jeffrey holds a B.A. degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.S. Degree in Environmental Management and Communications, from the University of Michigan.

Chris Saxman, Chief Operating Officer at CirrusMD Inc. Chris has more than 25 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur and C-Suite Executive, with an extensive background in founding and building companies, raising capital and developing and implementing corporate strategy. At CirrusMD, he leads business development and operational efforts and is instrumental in developing new value-based business models around virtual care for large payers and providers. He mentors technology companies through Techstars Boulder and is a leader of the digital healthcare community in Colorado. He received an MBA in Finance and Economics from NYU Stern and a BA in Economics and Government from Cornell University.

Mark Barnes, Chief Operating Officer at Telespine Inc. has provided orthopedic rehabilitative care to over 10,000 patients primarily consisting of complex spine conditions. In 2006, to solve a major problem in clinical care and patient outcomes, he developed the Telespine low back pain program of care and the digital health web app to deliver the program online. Dr. Barnes engineered the clinical and business operational methods for both the online and health coaching components of the Telespine program. He has owned and operated multiple businesses in physical and occupational therapy including facilities focused on evidence-based protocols, cost-containment, and employee health for large self-insured companies

Samantha Lippolis, Telehealth Director, Centura Health, is responsible for strategy, planning and implementation of Centura’s telehealth program. Prior to joining Centura, Samantha worked on telemedicine efforts across Colorado at University Physician’s Inc., Children’s Hospital Colorado and Kaiser Permanente. She was named Rural Health Fellow in 2012 and a fellow in telehealth by the Clinton Global Initiative University in 2012. She received her Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2010. In 2015 Samantha worked directly with and testified in the Colorado House, Senate and Medical Board to provide reimbursement parity and modernize medical board guidance for telehealth.

Chen-Tan “CT” Lin, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer University of Colorado Health is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics.. His academic publications and his talks for national audiences include: physician adoption of information technology, EHR usability, online patient communication, and patient accessible records with Open Test Results and Open Notes. His national awards include "Healthcare IT innovator (2003)" "Electronic Physician of the Year (2008)" and the "Epic Classics" recognition for his talk, on "Improving EHR readability" (2012). CT currently leads a team of 17 physician informaticians in the pursuit of improving physician happiness and clinical effectiveness by building world-class interpersonal relationships with communication strategies and innovative, personalized technologies.
