False Prophets and Heresy, 2-week series

In week 1 we will look at the "false prophets," who spoke non-truth to the Old Testament faith community in the name of Yahweh. Who were they, what motivated them, what was wrong with their message, and why did it matter?

In week 2, we will look at the warnings given by the apostles to the NT faith community about "false prophets," with the experiences of the OT faith community in mind. We will also look at the term "heresy" and learn why emerging heresies were of concern to the NT writers. We will also consider the relevance of these matters to the modern NT church.
