Pirates Over a Brew: State of the World

Ok normally, these meets ups are simply a chance to chew the fat, and meet new people.

But, given that we seem to witnessing something akin to the fall of the Roman Empire at the moment, I have decided to extend and turn this Brew into an invitation to discuss what's happening across the pond and beyond.

This chat might not feel like your cup of tea (sorry), but I fear we can't afford not to discuss.

We will, of course, explore the pirate take on world events, but ultimately I want to offer some time and space to process together what's happening and how to respond - instead of descending into a scroll hole (which is what I'm doing right now).

A few things on my mind:

The conduct of global leaders - because let's face it, many of us have seen similar in corporate. What does this mean for our own leadership.

The fast descent into techno corporate fascism - scrapping DEI, firing experts and of course Bezos' bizarre cognitive dissonance in dictating to the Washington Post what free speech is. Whilst this is clearly bad for the world, a lot of this may affect our immediate jobs and lives too.

Movement building - how has lack of solidarity elsewhere enabled the rise of the far right? What can we do better?
