Let's walk to Commonwealth Avenue and check out the Great Elephant Migration exhibit.

The Great Elephant Migration is a massive public art exhibition that features 100 life-sized, handcrafted elephant sculptures created to raise awareness for human-wildlife coexistence and support global conservation initiatives. Organized by The Great Elephant Migration, the installation displays life-sized replicas modeled after real elephants from the Nilgiri Hills in India, which were meticulously crafted from lantana camara—an aggressive invasive weed that threatens native wildlife habitats—by local Indigenous artisans. By bringing these sculptures to urban spaces like Boston, the project aims to foster empathy for wildlife, highlight successful models of living alongside animals, and generate funds to protect endangered species and wild spaces worldwide.
