Organizer profile 
Kiyomi Hasegawa was born to the household of Kiyoshige Hasegawa, who ran the family owned trading company Hasegawa Shouten, which was founded in 1926 at Engarucho, Hokkaido.  After graduating from Hosei University, she started working at Seibu Department Store.  After leaving Seibu, she founded Beniyabisu in Yokohama in June of 2001.  Her goal is to help sell Hokkaido native beans and to help promote awareness of regional dishes through cooking classes.  She writes books about native beans, provides recipes, holds lectures and events concerning native beans, native crops, regional cuisine, and also plans overseas trips.

In 2011, Kiyomi started to travel around the world to places like Central America, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and throughout Asia to learn more about the origin of beans.  Not only does she perform research about native beans and crops but also conducts various types of fieldwork regarding organic agriculture, traditional dishes and food culture, and the lifestyles of native peoples that have been passed down through the generations.
