Join retired environmental specialist Jeff Weber from 9-11am at Old Miakka Preserve (0.4 mile down dirt road heading east from the intersection of Fruitville Rd and Myakka Rd) for a guided hike through Florida oak scrub and pine flatwoods habitats. Highlights will include spring wildflowers and interesting insects, birds and other wildlife. We'll hike at an easy pace, with periodic informational stops, enjoying the preserve's natural beauty and the company of like-minded guys. Bring drinking water, a hat and sunscreen, binoculars (optional), wear comfortable clothes and hiking shoes or boots (soft sand and possibly a muddy patch or two). Suggested donation $5 per person (cash day of event or Zelle to 941-536-8106). Afterwards, come join the group for lunch at Stottelmeyer's Smokehouse (optional).
