BTB Biking - Ride of Silence 2025

Details
The 2025 Ride of Silence will take place on May 21. The ride honors cyclists and others that are victims of traffic violence and is used to promote safe streets in Pittsburgh. This event will be hosted by Bike Pittsburgh and be attended by a variety of cycling clubs in Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Major Taylor - my club - and the best one). The ride is coordinated by the Western PA Bicycle Club and Women@work Cycling Club.
This years ride of silence will specifically honor Will Theisen and Courtney Carter, who were both killed while biking in their neighborhoods. The ride will consist of a silent procession, with riders maintaining a slow reflective pace to honor those lost and to create awareness on Bike Safety in Pittsburgh.
The ride will start in Highland Park and go to Homewood and back, and is relatively flat route that highlights good biking infrastructure.
Notes about this ride:
1. Helmet will be required, and you will be required to sign a waiver from the event organizers
2. This is a great opportunity to road ride in a safe and controlled environment. If you have been interested in doing some road riding to explore Pittsburgh off the trails, this is a good opportunity to ride with others
3. Bring Water
4. Be able to bike 10-12 miles
5. The event will start at Reservoir Dr & Highland Park Reservoir Path - and there is limited parking. Please make arrangements to bike to the location and we can meet there on bikes.
6. The ride will probably end around dark, and bike safety and visibility is a key component of this ride. Bring lights if you have them.
7. Depending on how many people sign up - I will consider a meeting spot where we can ride up together.
