Hartwood Acres Day Hike

Welcome to the Beat the Blues Pittsburgh Hiking Group! I’m looking forward to hitting the trails with all of you for a guided hike of the Hartwood Acres beautiful forest loop!

Before your first hike with us, please note the following:

Attendance: DO NOT RESERVE A SPOT IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON COMMITTING TO IT! The event is limited to 25 in order to account for all hikers and respect the peace of the park. Attendance will be taken just prior to each hike. If you cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances, release your reservation prior to Friday at noon so that those waitlisted can plan to replace you. Failure to do so without further communication will result in being banned from the group.

Meeting location: Hartwood Acres parking lot on Middle Road. Hikes begin at the designated start time with no exceptions! We will be hiking in all conditions unless notified in advance.

Regarding safety: 90% of the hike will be dirt forest trails. They are often muddy. We will cross several streams. Please wear waterproof hiking boots with traction. The trails are hilly. Hiking poles are highly recommended so that you do not fall. While this group cares for your safety, all participants hike at their own risk.

Regarding endurance: hikes last about 2 1/2 hours and stretch for 6 miles. Please consider this pace before attending! Bring water. Bathroom facilities exist at the start & halfway point.

Dogs: are allowed if well behaved.
