What we’re about
This group is for people who are passionate about photography, and know they can improve how they express themselves through the images they make. We support each other in our journeys to becoming better photographers.
There are two parts to each Meetup. Firstly on a Saturday or Sunday we meet at a location in the Front Range or Denver metro area to capture images for about two hours. Generally the locations are outdoors, walking/hiking is required, sometimes it will be an early or late start to take advantage of the golden hour. The subjects are wide ranging, e.g., architectural, birds and animals, landscapes, and street. The object is to keep challenging each other to really see the world around us.
For the second part we meet in-person to review our images; there is no scoring or judging, just opportunity to provide constructive feedback to improve our images. The focus is our creativity, not technical minutia although feedback of how to improve technically to capture better images is welcomed. During the daylight saving months, the review meetings will be held at 6:30 pm on the Tuesday or Wednesday after the photoshoot. In the winter months, it will be held on the Sunday afterwards at 3:00 pm. The reviews are held in north Golden (in a commercial office facility near the intersection of Hwy 93 and Golden Gate Canyon Rd).
The group is facilitated by me, Robert Cooke. I am an enthusiastic photographer learning to find my path to conveying the world I see in my images. I aim to host one Meetup per month.
Participants of all skill and experience levels are welcome but should be familiar with the operation of their photographic equipment and post processing tools.
There is no fee to join the group. Please only RSVP “yes” if you can join both parts of the meetup. You are welcome to contact me if you have any questions ([robertcooke@icloud.com](mailto:robertcooke@icloud.com)).

This Meetup will be hosted by Pablo Balan; there are two parts.
The first part is a full day trip to the Mission Wolf Sanctuary near Westcliffe, Colorado on Saturday June 7. This is a great opportunity to photograph wolves; if you are brave enough you can choose to go in a cage with them but you must be be comfortable with a wolf licking your lips as a way of greeting! We will meet at the Sanctuary which is located about 30 miles south east of Westcliffe at 8:45 am for our group’s visit which is booked for 9:00 am. We recommend you stay in hotel in Westcliffe on Friday night to avoid a very long day if you are driving from the Denver area. The Sanctuary is located at 9,300 feet above sea level so you need to be prepared for variable weather conditions.
For the second part we will meet at 5:30 pm on Thursday June 26 in north Golden (in a commercial office facility near the intersection of Hwy 93 and Golden Gate Canyon Rd). The meeting is to review our images; there is no scoring or judging, just opportunity to provide constructive feedback to improve our images. Pablo will provide the building address during the photo outing.
There is no fee to join the Meetup; although donations to the Sanctuary will be welcomed.
The Meetup is limited to 10 participants.
Only RSVP if you can join both parts of the meetup. To allow time for participants to plan the trip and make hotel reservations, the RSVP will close on April 11. Pablo has prepared detailed instructions for the Meetup which will be emailed to the participants following close of the RSVP. Each participant is responsible for their own reservations and travel costs. I will do my best to match people wishing to ride-share. Please contact me with any questions (robertcooke@icloud.com).
