Learn to SQUARE DANCE!

Modern Pattern Dancing combines the simplicity and excitement of Contra dancing with the versatility and smoothness of Modern Western Style Square Dancing. There are a bunch of regulars that show up to this, and in addition we normally get a some people from the MEETUPS every once in a while. It's a fun time!

It is danced to modern music ranging from Country to Hip Hop and is not confined to square formations. Pairs, Triangles, Rectangles, Hexagons, Kaleidoscopes, Sicilian Circle and many others formations are also employed. Couples, Singles, and groups of all ages are always welcome.

This group does meet every Monday,and is open to everybody including beginners. The average attendance is between 16 to 25 people. Beginners should come at 7:00 for an introduction

The Gold Rush Outlaws Western Square and Modern Pattern Dance Group meets every Monday night from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM near the Greater Pittsburgh Airport. 3.5 miles off the Hopewell exit of the parkway 376/old rt 60. (rt 151) New dancers are always welcome and should come at 7:00 PM for the first dance to learn the steps needed for the following ones. Dancers learn at their own pace and pick up where they left off at their next visit. We are open to all ages and lifestyles, and have three International recording artists on our staff to serve you. Join us for a night and see what we have to offer.

There are also a couple other events each month where you can go and practice what you've learned and learn the next few steps as well. I've gone dozens of times and am really enjoying it. the ages range from (guessing here) late teens/early 20s to 80s with a pre-teen and teens at some of the additional events. fun for all, they match us newbies with partners who know what they are doing to start off, but don't worry, you don't stay with that partner the whole time as the square mixes, matches and intermingles and you can progress quickly or take your time moving up if you need to. Tons of fun, you have to try it.

No specific attire required, street clothes, jeans, tennies & t-shirts, or dress up in your favorite western wear. just wear COMFORTABLE low heeled shoes, cowboy boots etc as you do a lot of moving and don't want to be falling over in heels or having sore feet.

Dance on Holiday Mondays also.
