Ashridge - Dunstable Downs (16 Mile Circular Walk)
Details
This month's longer walk is in the Chiltern Hills starting from Ashridge, which is always a great place to walk. Ancient woodland, picturesque countryside, great views and pretty villages.
This walk will take us through Ashridge Forest and onto the Ridgeway before crossing the Ouzel Valley to the top of Dunstable Downs. After a break at the Visitor Centre Café we will return to Ashridge via Whipsnade and Little Gaddesdon.
What to Expect
A 16 mile walk mainly on good tracks and small lanes, some tracks may be overgrown and uneven in places. There will be a few hills to tackle with a couple of steep climbs and a total ascent of around 1200ft. We will maintain a pace of just over 3mph throughout the walk.
This is a lovely walk but it is challenging, a long walk with quite a few hills and a couple of very steep sections. It is suitable for anyone that is a regular walker with a good standard of fitness.
If you are a first timer please read the 'About us...' section on the homepage before signing up for this walk, ensuring appropriate fitness and suitability.
If you can't make the walk please change your RSVP in plenty of time to allow others to attend
