Details

Many creatives in this topsy-turvey world internalize their own creative angst at the expense of their health. What we need is a release, and a way to move beyond resistance so we can do what matters to us. In the spirit of personal care for creatives, we are excited to share that Lori Rose, a trauma-informed educator and founder of the Rose Model for Healthy Relationships, will share her "BREATHE" Somatic Movement practice.

What to expect:

  • This workshop-style event combines activities to move through fear and resistance, music, and a movement practice done individually to amplify your authentic strengths and personal evolution in an environment grounded in safety, dignity, and belonging.
  • BREATHE is an acronym representing an arc of seven practices using music and movement to complete the brain-body’s stress cycle and rebalance the nervous system, so you can connect with your inner compass and take action on what you care about.
  • There is literally no way to do BREATHE wrong! We’ll start with slow music and movement invitations, and prompts will guide you to check in with yourself and adapt movement for your mobility, sensations, and needs for each song. The practice is as gentle (or not) as you want it to be.
  • Everything is optional, and all movement is done individually, without observation by or physical contact with others. While prompts are typically given from a standing position, BREATHE can also be done sitting or lying down.
  • With safety, consent, and accessibility as guiding principles, BREATHE allows your nervous system to move out of states like anxiety, fear, depression, overwhelm, and shutdown and restore your sense of aliveness, connection, and creative flow.

When you attend:

  • Comfy clothes you can lift your limbs in and shoes you feel safe moving around in are recommended. All you need to bring is yourself, and no experience of any kind is needed!
  • You’ll receive a handout detailing the BREATHE acronym and a summary of the movement prompts for each practice.
  • You’ll be asked to share your feedback and ideas as Lori seeks to grow collaborative efforts and this practice.

Rooted in neurobiology, psychology, and entrainment theory, BREATHE will give you tools to restore your nervous system, knowledge about your self and your strengths, and fuel for your next meaningful actions.

We can’t wait to share BREATHE with you and experience what unfolds when we get out of our heads and into our bodies, allowing more creativity and life to emerge through movement.

Are you feeling dizzy trying to navigate the accelerating changes as an artist or creative? We understand that it can be challenging, so we at Beer and Napkins are excited to announce our ongoing community for Creatives. This community is designed to facilitate knowledge sharing, provide tips and techniques, explore technology, and discuss community development ideas.

We invite you to join us for our Bi-Monthly Meetup at Carolina Bauernhaus in Greenville at 6:30 PM. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives and engage in supportive conversations to help you grow and thrive as an artist and creator.

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to expand your network, learn new skills, and share your experiences with other creatives. We hope to see you there!
