Psychological Safety: Creating Powerful Ecosystems

Details

The core of what we do and what we create in this industry is for the greater good of other human beings.

As humans, we can run into all sorts of challenges like feeling silenced by others, being uninspired, being afraid of disappointing leaders - the list goes on. What happens when we can't show up as our whole selves where we work? How honest can our work truly be then? How can we tap into the possibility of feeling not only free to be ourselves alongside our colleagues, but also feel comfortable enough to challenge one another to create incredible things?

In technology we so often place such a strong focus on deliverables that we destroy and silence the human connection and sustainability of the work we're creating. And sometimes, we're left so angry or frustrated about an interaction that, even though we recognize the other party might be right, our effectiveness was impaired for days. Sometimes, in our good intentions to improve or accelerate, we miss the reality that we’re inadvertently standing on the brakes and preventing our own progress.

To build for other people we have to show up as fully human as we possibly can, and that can't happen without psychological safety.
This May, join Tara Swanson as she talks about the real purpose and power behind psychological safety. What it is (what it isn't) and how we can adapt and change our behavior to create truly powerful ecosystems that allows for individuals to produce better work faster, all while working more happily and sustainably together.
