Beginner Frisbee Learning League - Women & Genderqueer Folks

Beginner Ultimate Frisbee Friends (B.U.F.F.) is a beginner-focused league, geared towards players with 0-2 years of experience. This space is open to anyone but cis dudes (abcd). Let's get Beginner Ultimate Frisbee Friends (BUFF) together!

When: Tuesdays from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Dates: September 23rd through November 25th
Where: Sternberg Park

Goals of this league:
Create a social space to stay active and learn a new sport!
By the end of the league all participants should feel comfortable going to an ultimate pickup game anywhere in the world on their own.
What are the rules to Ultimate Frisbee?
We will teach the rules, the jargon, and fundamental skills! Ultimate Frisbee is traditionally played 7 v 7 on a field similar to a football field. The object of the game is to score goals. A goal is scored when a player catches a pass in the end zone their team is attacking. A player may not run while holding the disc. The disc is advanced down the field by passing to your teammates. A disc that is dropped, thrown out of bounds, or intercepted by the defending team results in a change of possession. Ultimate Frisbee is a non contact sport.
Format:
20 minutes of throwing instruction
20 minutes of strategic instruction
45 minutes of gameplay (Full field or mini, based on numbers)
Participants that register for the full session will receive an official Ultimate Disc to keep
What to bring:
Water
A dark-colored and white-colored shirt, jersey, or pinney. (Please avoid grey, light blue, light yellow etc)
Cleats (if you have them) but no metal spikes
Bathrooms: There are no unlocked bathrooms on the premises after dark. During the day, the bathrooms are multi-stall, designated with “women’s” and “men’s” signs. DiscNY Bathroom Descriptions

Registration Details:
First time? If you'd like to come try the event out before registering for the full event, no problem! We'll just need a waiver from you for your first session, and if you choose to come back, we ask that you fully register. Make sure to give us a heads-up that you'll be there by clicking the "message admins" button below.
