📍 Arctic Valley Trailhead (near the ski area,) parking fees can be paid online if you can get that one bar on your cell phone to work. Mine did and I was able to pay online. Otherwise, please bring $5 to pay the parking fee.
### Description
Let’s head up to Mount Gordon Lyon for some fresh air and big views of Anchorage, Cook Inlet, and the Chugach Range! This is a moderate hike with steady elevation gain, so bring water and take your time — the views from the top are worth it.
📏 Distance: ~4-5 miles round trip. According to online resources, the hike is between 3.5 and 5 miles. Be prepared for 5 RT.
⛰️ Elevation Gain: ~1,300 - 1500 feet
🕒 Time: About 2–3 hours at a casual pace
👉 What to bring:
- Sturdy hiking shoes
- Water & snacks
- Layered clothing (weather changes fast up here)
- Trekking poles (optional but helpful)
- Bear spray may save your life, bring it!
- Bug may make you more comfortable, bring it!
- Sunscreen will protect your skin, bring it!
