In many Indigenous traditions, the hand drum holds deep meaning. One of the most universal symbols it carries is the heartbeat of Mother Earth.

The sound of the drum feels familiar to us—almost instinctively—because we’ve heard it before. When we were in our mother’s womb, we were surrounded by the steady rhythm of her heartbeat. That memory lives in our bodies, which is why the drum can feel so comforting, grounding, and powerful.

Whether you’re just beginning your journey with the hand drum or have been playing for years, this workshop is an invitation to deepen your relationship with this sacred instrument. The hand drum—often called a shamanic drum—is more than just a musical tool. It is a companion in healing, a channel for expression, and a bridge to the ancient wisdom carried in our bones.

Through drumming, we open our hearts, awaken our voices, and reconnect with our true essence. It helps us release, express, and remember who we really are.

The drum has long been used in ceremony and ritual across cultures, calling in guidance, grounding energy, and creating a rhythm that speaks to the spirit. When we play, we not only connect to ourselves, but also to the Earth, to our ancestors, and to the unseen threads that link all of life.

This workshop will offer space for both learning and remembering—techniques for beginners, inspiration for seasoned players, and practices to connect more deeply with the drum as a sacred ally. Come as you are. All levels are welcome.
