Story Point Estimation: The Why & The How

Details

Are you feeling unsure about using story points to estimate software development tasks? Join our meetup where we’ll explore why relative sizing is the most effective way to estimate user stories in Agile, rather than using days or hours.

Have you watched the Netflix series “Squid Game”? If so, you’re in for a treat—we’ll use some of its challenges to demonstrate how to apply story points. Together, we’ll learn how to set up a relative sizing scale with your team, define raw (planning) velocity, and fine-tune your release forecast based on actual team velocity. Through these activities, you’ll discover how to use story points correctly and avoid the usual pitfalls that Agile teams often encounter.

Our facilitators, Dzmitry Yaltykhau and Tony Liu, will share their experiences as delivery leads and then open the discussion to everyone. If you’re interested in software delivery or Agile project management, come join us—play the game, share your stories, and learn from one another’s insights.
