Self-esteem: a different perspective
Details
This meeting is for you if you have been very strict with yourself for a long time, seek approval from others to feel well, or feel your self-esteem goes up or down depending on the person who is in front of you…
This doesn't mean there is something wrong with you. It just means that you are a human being.
Your self-esteem gets shaped since early childhood, when you were surrounded by voices, judgements and roles that slowly started to become your own. Without realising it, the value you assign yourself starts being built from the outside in, not from the inside.
You work on yourself, you try to love yourself more... but the critical voices return. Patterns repeat themselves. And your self-esteem continues to oscilate between extremes that are beyond your control.
Our job is NOT to fight our past history. It is to understand it so that it stops guiding our life without us noticing it.
Will you join us for a meeting with activities to help us stop our self-esteem bobbing up and down? (Yes, there will be some fun breaks, too! 🤣)
If you want to reflect a bit before we meet, here are some suggestions:
- How often do you feel that your self-worth depends on what others see or think of you?
- What patterns of relating with others, loving yourself or treating yourself would you like to understand better?
- In which area(s) of your life do you feel that your self-esteem is less solid?
- What inner critical message has been living rent-free in your mind for the longest time?
- What or whom does the way you value yourself usually depend on?
- What part of you is yearning to be seen and acknowledged at last?
