Title of Talk:
Confluent Connector Initializer (Generating Kafka Connector Projects)

Abstract:
This talk will look into how we can generate Kafka Sink and Source Connectors quickly and efficiently through the use of the Connector Initializer. We will cover how the Connector Initializer aims to resolve some of the pain points that Kafka developers face in making a connector from scratch. A demo will be shown of the project creating a connector in seconds!

Bio:
Stephen is a Partner Innovation Engineer who joined Confluent in February 2023. Stephen enjoys spending his free time hiking, photography and playing guitar.

Tracing Kafka with OpenTelemetry

Abstract:
In this talk, we will explore the integration of Apache Kafka with OpenTelemetry, an open-source observability framework. We will cover the basics of OpenTelemetry, including its components and benefits. The session will demonstrate how to instrument Kafka producers and consumers for tracing, discuss design considerations, and showcase best practices for deploying OpenTelemetry in a scalable manner. Attendees will gain insights into improving their monitoring and troubleshooting processes through enhanced visibility and standardized telemetry data collection.

Bio:
Mehreen Tahir is a Software Engineer at New Relic. She specializes in machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence. Mehreen is passionate about observability and the use of telemetry data to improve application performance. She actively contributes to developer communities and has a keen interest in edge analytics and serverless architecture.
