For August we are delighted to host Colin Gillespie from Jumpingrivers⇧ (https://www.jumpingrivers.com/) a young consulting and training company in open source, who will introduce the R programming language
He will present R and its numerous possibilities. R is a powerful open source tool used in statistics and data analysis. That is a fantastic opportunity to anyone curious or new to R to learn its wide capabilities.
Attendees can bring their own machines as Colin will provide live examples that you could try yourself simultaneously.
Andrew Bolster from Farset Labs⇧ (http://www.farsetlabs.org.uk/) will also speak thereafter about Basic Data Science and Open Data workflows.
He will discuss Pandas, Patsy and Seaborn, as part of a Python data workflow.
Food will be served afterwards, including falafel and delicious Middle Eastern Mediterranean cuisine accompanied with wine, beer, fruit juice and water.
Please register for catering purpose, so we can plan enough food.
See you there and keep posted if any change,
[BLUG Quarterly Cycle]: Each quarter, BLUG cycles through Technical Insights, General Interest and Social events. General Interest events aim to provide something for everyone, technical or otherwise. Technical Insights events aim to delve deeper in a technical area. Socials, we make up discussion as we go along! All new and long-term attendees are welcome to all events.
BLUG is not specific to Linux, or Linux users, but is open to all who use or are interested in open source.
