*Dogs Welcome*: Circular Walk – 5.9 Miles/9.5km – PEAK DISTRICT
Hosted by Beliefs -online workshops
Details
5.9 Miles/9.5km walk in the Peak District.
It is likely that we will meet other people's dogs, as well as children, along the way. We will also encounter livestock along the whole route therefore if you are bringing a dog, please do ensure that it is friendly and that you are confident with controlling/keeping an eye your dog throughout the walk!
Start time and location
We will meet at the Penny Pot Cafe in Edale at 11:00.
The cafe is right next to Edale train station, which is served by a direct train from the city centre once per hour.
The train leaves from the city centre and takes 32 minutes to reach Edale.
To reach the start point on time, we recommend getting the 10:14 train (under £10 return, without a railcard).
Please let us know as soon as possible if you think you are going to be late.
While we recognise that the train may be delayed, and we will wait for late-comers if the 10:14 is slower than expected, we can't wait for anyone who misses
the train entirely and needs to get the one that leaves around an hour later.
We have made this decision so that we can manage the energy levels of the group and run the walk to time without affecting any plans that others may have for
the rest of their day.
This is the full address for the Penny Pot Cafe from Google Maps:
Station Approach, Edale, Hope Valley S33 7ZA.
The Penny Pot Cafe has toilets, free sunscreen (though I would recommend you bring your own), water bowls & treats for dogs.

Walking route details:
The walk will take approximately 4 hours walking time, plus an added 1 hour for stops and lunch break.
Based on feedback from earlier walks, we plan to offer two groups within
the walk - a faster paced group to lead the walk, for those who want to get exercise out of the event, and a slower paced group to follow, for those who want to attend for leisure and to take more time to take in the views. The time quoted is based on the
slower paced group.
We will go from the Penny Pot café North towards Grindslow clough, where we will cross some Farmers fields – if you are bringing a dog, it is crucial that it is
on a lead as we will pass sheep. There are also gates along this part of the route and these need to be closed and latched on exiting.
Once at the top of Grindslowow Clough we turn right and follow the paved path. Along this path we can stop for lunch and both groups can
meet up.
We then follow the park towards Ringing Rodger and the Nab after which we retrace our steps to the Penny Pot Café.
What to bring & precautions to take
Please take sensible precautions to keep yourself comfortable throughout the walk - we are not first-aid trained, but if you have any health conditions you
need to manage and want to make us aware of, please do so, so we can keep an eye out for you if you are struggling at all. Of course, please take the advice of a medical professional if you have any concerns about whether this walk is appropriate for your
level of fitness/health condition(s).
In general, please bring sunscreen, appropriate clothing, a packed lunch, and plenty of fluids.
Facilities
The Penny Pot Cafe has bathrooms available, free Wi-Fi, and an active train information board.
They have toilets (gets busy), a free sunscreen dispenser (though I would recommend you bring your own), water bowls & treats for dogs.
They will also fill up water bottles on request.
The cafe is open 08:00-17:00 – sometimes later at busy times.
Edale Main Car Park also has toilet facilities.
Please note that enroute there will be no facilities for water, toilets, or food until we reach Upper Booth on the final leg of the hike, where there is a
kiosk selling snacks and canned drinks (this takes both cards and cash) and is subject to availability.
End time and location
We estimate that the walk will end by 15:00, at The Penny Pot Cafe.
Some of us may then want to go to the Rambler Inn pub, but there is no obligation to join this part of the event.
The train station is right next to the pub, and the direct train back to the city centre leaves once per hour, just past 30 minutes after the hour.
