# Nature onto Silk: Korean Eco Print Master’s Lecture
Join us for a one of a kind lecture with Fiber Artist Kim Young Nam from Nature 愛 Natural Dyeing Cultural Space, and learn about her creative process on natural dyeing and eco-printing. Using plants like eucalyptus, indigo, and silk, her work celebrates experimentation, tradition, and the beauty of working by hand.
Eco-printing in natural dyeing is a technique that imprints the shapes of leaves, flowers, and plants directly onto fabric. The process involves placing plant materials on the textile and applying high pressure and heat so that the natural pigments and patterns are transferred. In this lecture, the different techniques and processes of eco-printing will be explored, including original eco printing, gradient, jogakbo (patchwork), saekdong, hounji (plant-based leather), digital textile, and more!
# Daenggi Meori Art Activity
Inspired by the Nature onto Silk lecture! Stay after the event for an art activity inspired by the Daenggi Meori, a traditional Korean hair ribbon once worn by girls. You’ll create your own Daenggi-inspired piece with colorful materials to turn into a keychain or bag charm!
