Gravel Ride, Madras, 44 mile, 4,300 feet of gain

With all the spooky weather moving in, it’s time to head out to THE GHOST … or in this case, the Ghost of Ashwood.

So join us on this ghost busting (and lung busting) adventure. 43 miles and 4,200 feet of climbing on gravel roads mixed with paved roads. Big climbs, big views.

The start is 16 miles north of Madras. (See the Dirty Freehub website for the exact start which is on the corner of Pony Butte Road and 97.)

Note that we will be regrouping at several locations, so if you want to race off the front and keep on trucking you should find a different event. This is not meant to be a race but a social outing. After all, it’s nice to chat and get to know other people. eBikes are welcome.

Meeting: Be on time and ready to pull out 5 minutes after the meeting time. (I can assure you that we won’t be late on leaving. Ha ha …. ). The course starts 15 miles north of Madras so the drive takes about an hour from Bend.

Cell phones: you must be joking, no they won't work. Maps: highly encourage you bring a map or download the route. Given the route finders didn't see a car until mile 26, please be prepared.

Drop a note in the comments section if you are looking to carpool with other cyclists. Just include if you want to drive or ride with someone else and your general location.

We will cancel if the smoke is bad or it looks like a solid chance of rain. Check the comments section on the day of the event for any cancelations or changes.

Rules of the Rides

• Approved Cycling Helmets Required.
• Participants must be age 18 or over.
• To participate in a BACE Meetup activity, you must be a member of the BACE Meetup Group and be RSVP’d “Yes” for that specific activity. No “Plus 1’s”
• All participants should be “self-sufficient” with their own food, hydration, tools, spare tubes and first aid supplies necessary for the activity.
• No dogs permitted on group rides unless inclusion is specified in the activity description.
• Cycling activities may be significantly impacted by changing conditions (rain, snow, mud, road construction, etc.). Participants should monitor activities for cancellations or changes in location/route.

The organizers of this group and its members will not be held responsible for the actions of any participant at any event.
