Group Gravel Ride: Ochoco National Forest, 50 miles with 4,000 Feet

Details

Home, home, on the range. We are headed to ride the Big Summit Prairie which is at the heart of Ochoco National Forest. This route is light on gravel (65% paved) but big on views and adventure. With a little luck, we will run across the wild mustangs. For sure, we will see plenty of wildflowers.

PLEASE use the Ride Guide to navigate to the start instead of Meetup. We are parking at a large parking lot that is at the intersection of Ochoco Creek Road and Coyle Creek Road. Here’s the Dirty Freehub Ride Guide: [https://dirtyfreehub.org/routes/oregon/big-summit-prairie/ ](https://dirtyfreehub.org/routes/oregon/big-summit-prairie/)

The ride starts about an 80-90 minute drive from Bend. (East of Prineville). If you are willing to drive other people in your car, leave a note on the message board for the event. Same goes if you are looking for someone else to drive. A warning that there is limited cell coverage both at the start and throughout the whole ride. So you need to plan accordingly when it comes to navigating to the start.

This is not meant to be a race but a social outing. After all, it’s nice to chat and get to know other people. The goal is to have fun, meet other people, and sneak in a ride.

You MUST have the route downloaded and are able to use your device or phone. I plan on riding about 11-12 mph. I will pull out of the start, exactly on the posted start time.

If the weather takes a dive, you can assume we are canceling but we will also post a message on the Meetup page.

Sorry to say, but this is NOT a no drop ride. (Gosh, there are a lot of NOs in that last sentence.) but we WILL regroup a few times. This ride is also unsupported.

Text or call Linda at 541 550 8930 with any questions.
