I spy some good weather so let's start the weekend celebration early. Oktoberfest has just been rerouted due to road closures so you can test out the latest and greatest version. The route includes a trip to Tumalo Falls and a lot of wandering around the woods, with a patch of single track which you can easily avoid.

If this seems toooooo long, you are in luck. This route is super easy to cut short ... there are several jump off points that will put you spinning back to town on Skyliners Road. We will roll out at exactly at noon.

This is a paid event ($10). If you’ve donated to Dirty Freehub in the past 12 months or you are a veteran, use the promo code “Friday” for free entry.

ebikes are welcome.

The Route:
Oktoberfest. The route is 29 miles and 1,800 feet of gain. We will meet at Phil's Trailhead. The route offers up easy gravel riding with big views of our mountains! MAKE SURE you have the right version of the route which was posted two days ago on the Dirty Freehub website. I am planning to ride about 10 mph but some of you will go faster, some of you will go slower. This is an opportunity for you to find your riding pals.

Please have the route downloaded to a bike computer or phone and be able to navigate from it.

Also, the event will be cancelled if the weather is bad! (No, we don't do organized rides in the rain!)

Why do we charge for rides?
Running community rides takes resources:

  • MeetUp platform: nearly $550 per year
  • Liability insurance: ensuring we can host rides responsibly
  • Event organization: planning, route design, and coordination

Altogether, hosting community rides costs $2,000–$3,000 each year. Right now, those expenses are carried by our generous donors. To keep things fair, we ask all riders to contribute—either through an annual donation or a per-event fee.

When you donate, you’re not just paying expenses—you’re fueling a movement. You’re helping Dirty Freehub build community, create unforgettable experiences, and highlight the beauty of gravel cycling.
We’d love for you to join the Dirty Freehub team—because together, we make these rides possible.
