🌟 Ride Overview:
Get ready for one of the most stunning rides Central Oregon has to offer! 🌲🏔️
This route takes you through ancient lava fields, past towering Cascade peaks, and up to the iconic Dee Wright Observatory, where panoramic views stretch for miles. Every pedal stroke brings you closer to some of Oregon’s most breathtaking high-desert landscapes — it’s a feast for the eyes and a true adventure for the soul. ✨

Where: Village Green Park, Sisters, Oregon
Distance: >30.2-miles
Elevation Gain: 2,285 ft
Estimated Duration: ~3.0 hours
Surface: 100% paved | Distance: 30.2 miles | Elevation Gain: 2,285 ft

What you will need

  • E-bike riders: Please come with a fully charged battery and make sure your bike is ready for a serious climb.
  • Acoustic (non-electric) riders: Welcome too — but expect a tough workout!
  • Bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate layers (weather can shift quickly).
  • Helmets are mandatory.
  • This is a no-drop ride, but you must be able to maintain a moderate climbing pace.

🎯 Who’s this ride for?
Riders with solid fitness and experience with longer climbs.
This is a paved but steady and significant ascent up to the Dee Wright Observatory at 5,325 ft. If you’ve been craving an unforgettable challenge through lava fields and mountain peaks, this one’s calling your name!
💬 “Rauf zum Observatorium – das ist kein Spaziergang!” 😉
(Translation: “The ride up to the Observatory is no walk in the park!”)

🔴 Why Advanced?
Even with e-bikes, this ride is considered advanced due to the long, steady 2,285 ft climb, the need for careful battery management, high-altitude conditions around 5,300 ft, and the technical demands of a fast downhill return — requiring solid fitness, riding skills, and self-sufficiency.
