Hike Black Crater
Details
This is a 7.3 mile hike that climbs 2,260 vertical feet to the summit of Black Crater -- part of the Central Oregon Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. This hike will have some snow still, so traction devices (i.e. microspikes) are recommended).
Black Crater has beautiful, front-row views of the Three Sisters, Broken Top and up and down the Cascades. You can find a detailed description of the trail with photos, a map and elevation profile here.
We will meet at the trailhead at 7am for introductions and a quick gear check, then start hiking by 7:15am.
WHAT TO BRING
- There are currently snow fields to cross, so micro-spikes and trekking poles are strongly recommended.
- A Northwest Forest Pass for parking. An America the Beautiful National Parks pass will also work.
- At least two liters of water and electrolytes per person.
- Snacks.
- Appropriate clothing / layers
POST HIKE
You have the option to join us after the hike at The Barn in Sisters for lunch.
