Belknap Crater - Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge Hike #5

Details
This is a 7.6 mile hike that climbs 1,831 vertical feet to the summit of Belknap Crater -- part of the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. This begins by following the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) through a lava field, with a short respite through the woods before a steep climb ascending soft, loamy cinder and battling the frequent mountain-top winds.
Belknap Crater has great views up and down the Cascades. You can find a detailed description of the trail with photos, a map and elevation profile here.
Meet at the trailhead at 7am for introductions and a quick gear check, then start hiking by 7:15am.
WHAT TO BRING
- A Northwest Forest Pass for parking. An America the Beautiful National Parks pass will also work.
- At least two liters of water and electrolytes per person.
- Snacks.
- Appropriate clothing / layers
POST HIKE
